Honda is leveraging advanced Virtual Reality (VR) technology to develop future products ranging from the electric 2024 Honda Prologue to the 2023 Honda Pilot TrailSport. VR has become an important tool for Honda designers in the development of its future mobility products.
Utilising VR, Honda's LA-based design team accelerated collaboration with various engineering and design groups.
The usage of VR environments allowed the LA-based design team to accelerate collaboration with various engineering and design groups The computer aided design model enabled global design teams to receive immediate feedback and apply refinements to the clay modeling, colour, material and finishes related to the EV model.
While designers of the Honda Prologue also deployed traditional design processes such as a full-size exterior clay model to refine the details, the interior design execution was carried out by VR and augmented reality technology.
For interior design, these virtual methods transformed the design process, provided visualisation of unlimited colours and material application, improved collaboration, and allowed for quicker feedback.
