The Volkswagen ID. Cross Concept, an electric compact SUV, has made its world premiere at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, which runs from 9 to 14 September 2025.
Following the ID. 2all, the ID. GTI Concept, and the ID. EVERY1, the ID. Cross Concept is Volkswagen's fourth small electric concept car. The brand has said that production versions of these new Volkswagen models will be on the market from 2026. The new ID. Polo (production version of the ID. 2all) is set to make its debut in H1 2026, with the ID. Polo GTI following shortly. The final ID. Cross will make its world premiere in Q3 2026, with the ID. EVERY1 coming in 2027.
The ID. Cross Concept, in Urban Jungle green, reflects Volkswagen's new design language: Pure Positive. The lines and powerful surfaces on the concept SUV are pure and clear, while its positive personality is recognisable in areas such as the front and rear.
In addition, the width and airy design of the ID. Cross Concept’s Vanilla Chai interior give the five-seater compact SUV a sense of spaciousness. It also sports fabric-covered surfaces as well as pre-configured light, sound, and climate modes (Atmospheres). The concept car also features two central displays - an 11-inch digital instrument display and a 13-inch central touch display - arranged on a visual axis.
A further highlight is its specially designed seats that can be folded down completely to create a reclining area, much like the style of a Volkswagen Bus. The ID. Cross Concept also offers 450 litres of boot space along with a 25-litre frunk.

The front-wheel drive ID. Cross Concept is based on the MEB modular electric drive matrix, which will be continuously developed in the future with improvements to the MEB+ - among other things - in terms of engines, batteries and software; Volkswagen has confirmed that the MEB will be getting a new software generation in 2026.
The ID. Cross Concept also features a newly developed drive system, with the two central modules being its 155kW electric drive motor in the front axle system and the high-voltage battery. In addition, the WLTP range forecast for the new ID. Cross Concept is up to 420km.
