Following in the footsteps of the new Golf Life Plus and R-Line variants, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI has arrived in Singapore, sporting new exterior features and a revamped infotainment system.
The new GTI's front end has been redesigned, sporting the latest IQ.LIGHT LED matrix head lights (offering a stronger high beam with 15% more range than its predecessor) and an illuminated Volkswagen logo, as well as new 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels as standard. It is also easily recognisable thanks to its twin-pipe exhaust system, with a chrome-plated tailpipe on both sides of the vehicle. Redesigned LED taillight clusters, GTI style body-coloured bumpers, and a honeycomb air intake round off the exterior.
Red decorative stitching on the seats, centre armrest, floor mats, and multi-function steering wheel emphasise the fact that this interior belongs to a Golf GTI
Interior-wise, the new GTI is characterised by premium front sports seats with adjustable lumbar support and headrests, as well as "Vienna" leather inserts in the front and outer rear seats. An exclusive GTI feature is the Engine Start/Stop button, which pulses red when the doors are opened, stopping only when the engine comes to life. Standard features include pedal caps in brushed stainless steel, a black headliner, and the enhanced Digital Cockpit Pro that can be controlled via a free-standing 12.9-inch touchscreen display or by the IDA voice assistant.
At the heart of the new GTI is its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering a maximum output of 262bhp and 370Nm of torque, giving it a century sprint time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. In addition, its seven-speed DSG ensures that its power is transferred to the drive axle with no interruptions during gear changes. The gearbox can also be shifted manually using paddles on the multi-function steering wheel.
Interested customers and GTI fans can explore the new car in person at Volkswagen Centre Singapore, which is located at 247 Alexandra Road, Singapore 159934. Prices will begin from $269,900, and customers stand to enjoy three years of free servicing, a five-year vehicle warranty, and five years of free 24/7 Roadside Assistance in Singapore and Malaysia.
