Volkswagen Singapore has confirmed that there are 662 Volkswagen diesel vehicles registered locally that are affected by the recent scandal. These vehicles have been delivered with the Type EA 189 diesel engine and have software that could cause discrepancies in nitrogen oxide values during dynamometer runs.
This number includes both passenger cars (441 units) and commercial vehicles (221 units). Volkswagen Singapore will contact and follow up with the owners of these vehicles directly, after a technical solution is released by its headquarters.
Depending on the model, both software and hardware measures may be necessary. This is currently being established for each model series and each model year affected. All necessary measures will be carried out at no cost to customers. In the meantime, Volkswagen has assured that all these vehicles are technically safe and roadworthy.
