Volkswagen's has started pre-sales of the Golf GTI in Europe.
The heart of the Golf GTI has always been its engine. With this update, the engine puts out a maximum output of 261bhp. This allows the updated Golf GTI to go from zero to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and onto an electronically limited speed of 250km/h.
The seven-speed DSG ensures the power is transferred to the drive axle with virtually no interruptions to traction during gear changes. On top of this, the gearbox can be shifted manually with the use of paddles on the steering wheel.
Exterior wise, the GTI boasts an even sharper look with the front being redesigned to sport the new LED Plus head lights. Customers will also have the option of the latest generation IQ.Light LED matrix head lights, offering high-performance high beam with 15% more range than the predecessor.
As a standard, the Golf GTI will be fitted with 17-inch Richmond alloy wheels. There is also an optional 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheel.
The new Golf GTI will also boast redesigned LED taillight clusters. Thanks to the twin-pipe exhaust system, the GTI is still easily recognisable despite there not being the GTI logo on the boot lid.
The interior on the other hand is fitted with premium sports seats, completed with integrated head restraints and the iconic GTI check pattern. The aesthetics of the seats are further enhanced by the red decorative stitching. This stitching, which makes the car undoubtedly a GTI, can also be seen on the centre armrest, floor mats and steering wheel.
Volkswagen continues integrating ChatGPT into its vehicles with the updated GTI. The IDA voice assistant accesses ChatGPT to answer additional questions.
In addition to the integration of ChatGPT, the Ready 2 Discover infotainment system will be installed as a standard. The new infotainment system can be accessed through a 12.9-inch screen. The engine start/stop button will also pulse red until the turbocharged engine is started when the doors are opened. Also fitted as a standard, the GTI will feature a black headliner, enhanced Digital Cockpit Pro and pedal caps brushed in stainless steel.
