The long awaited Golf GTI Cabriolet is finally making its appearance in Singapore. The GTI Cabriolet first saw light early last year, and is now slated to be unveiled to the local audience this coming Saturday, 22nd June.
Measuring 4,258mm in length, 1,782mm in width and standing 1,414mm tall, the Mk6 based Golf GTI Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine. Via a six-speed DSG gearbox, the GTI Cabriolet propels to 100km/h under 7.3 seconds before climbing to a top speed of 235km/h. The car returns a fuel economy of 12.9km/L and CO2 emissions of 180g/km.

Aesthetics and comfort have not hindered all round protection in the Golf GTI Cabriolet, with a roll-over protection system that deploys in fractions of a second, a reinforced windscreen frame, and numerous other structural modifications including the underbody and side parts among other areas.
Front and side head/thorax airbags, a knee airbag on the driver's side and ESP complete the safety package. In addition, the convertible's standard equipment includes an electronic transverse differential lock (XDS), which further improves vehicle dynamics and safety when accelerating through bends.
Conditions are quiet even with the roof up with only the sonorous sound of the turbocharged engine remaining. Also, Volkswagen claims that the Golf GTI Cabriolet offers one of the most spacious interiors in its class and the soft top does not hinder a 250 litres load space - even when the top is down. Cargo capacity can be expanded with the split folding rear bench.
At launch, the Golf GTI Cabriolet will come with a price tag of S$206,800 (including COE).

Visually, the convertible is distinguished by typical GTI trademarks, including the red-framed radiator grille with honeycomb structure and GTI signature. In addition, the front GTI bumper, a new rear diffuser, chrome tailpipes, LED rear lights, side sill extensions and 18-inch 'Detroit' alloy wheels are offered as standard.
