Volkswagen Singapore has added an all new seven-seater Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) to join its family of people movers that include the five-seater Sportsvan, Touran and Sharan. Called the Caddy, this MPV has been a popular choice in Europe for many years, and this is the first time that it is being offered to customers in Singapore.

The Caddy will be available in two body lengths. While the standard version has a wheelbase of 2,682mm, the Caddy Maxi will offer an additional 470mm allowing for more interior space. According to Volkswagen, the Caddy Maxi will be one of the few cars in its class to be able to accommodate seven occupants as well as their luggage.
Under the bonnet of the Caddy is a 1.4 TSI engine with 122bhp and 220Nm of peak torque, which is available through a wide rev range. It has a top speed of 183km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in only 10.9 seconds (Caddy Maxi does this in 11.3 seconds). Despite its energetic performance, the vehicle remains extremely efficient, with a fuel consumption of 5.8L/100km and CO2 emissions rating of 133g/km.

With 45 percent of all Caddy models leaving the factory being passenger versions, there was a strong emphasis on making this new fourth generation model more comfortable and refined, to appeal to a broader range of customers. Thus, the all new Caddy comes with a host of driver assistance and safety systems. These include side and curtain airbags, as well as Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) as standard.
