Work on six stations of the Thomson-East Coast Line, namely Napier, Orchard Boulevard, Orchard, Great World, Havelock and Outram Park stations, has officially started.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah said the new MRT line will make a big different to residents, especially seniors and those living in areas, who are currently not served by trains.
The six stations will serve residents in the Tanglin-Cairnhill, Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru and Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng constituencies, and are expected to be completed by 2021. The 43km Thomson-East Coast Line will have a total of 31 stations, and is expected to be completed in 2024.
