The post BMW MINIs are getting larger and larger with each generation but as much as it has grown in size, the MINI still feels compact and easy to place on the road. Thankfully, that basic aspect of the brand's DNA has not been lost. It has a larger single piece grille and adorns a more dynamic body kit. It is also not shy with striking 'S' badges, allowing passers-by to differentiate this hot hatch from the regular Cooper.

The difference between a City Car and a City Sports Car lies with its performance. While the winner of the City Car category, the BMW i3, is cute, compact and cool, the champion of the City Sports Car has all of those characteristics plus power.
Measuring 3,850mm long, 1,727mm wide and 1,414mm tall, the MINI Cooper S, our City Sports Car of the year, may be bigger than its predecessor. But it doesn't mean it's inappropriate as a city car. With its funky colours in and out and an everlasting 'retrolicious-classic' silhouette, the MINI Cooper S is right at home around the cityscape.
More impressively, with its 2.0-litre powerplant churning out 192bhp and 280Nm of torque from the word go, this hot hatch will zip in and out of traffic effortlessly. Having a direct and well-weighted steering wheel helps a lot in this case too. Such a behaviour gives the car an instant appeal on the road and more so when its unrestrained character is enchanting enough to make you indulge it.
In a way, this car has already grown up and is no longer 'raw'. It rides smoother (thanks to wider front and rear tracks of 32mm and 24mm respectively), provides better performance figures, is better upholstered and comes with more space. And if you ask us, we say it's the perfect city sports car.
