With the coupe-crossover body style becoming increasingly trendy, BMW too delivers it's all electric contender - the first-ever iX2.

Instead of swoopy curves and bulbous surfaces, the iX2 leans into its angularity. From the pointed ends of the kidney grille to the bold lines across the flank, from the chevron-shaped taillights to the squared-off rear-end, the iX2 cuts a distinctive figure that lend it a real visual presence.

Inside, the iX2 is a familiar modern compact BMW experience. A single-panel curved display houses a 10.7-inch infotainment screen running OS 9, which offers a notably improved user experience. Build quality and fit and finish are also expectedly high - it feels every bit as premium as one would expect from this German marque.

Offered with a Cat A-friendly 110kW electric motor with 250Nm of torque, the iX2 is brisk on the go, and even at highway speeds cruises along comfortable and easily.

More relevantly, the car likes to be shown a set of corners. Its sporty outlook is backed up by a quick steering rack and tight handling, managing to deliver a light-footedness that belies its overall weight.

Even with bouts of enthusiastic driving, the iX2 still returns reasonable range - the 64.8kWh battery can deliver close to 400km of real-world range.

Polished and well-rounded, both in terms of its dynamic abilities and day-to-day functionality, the iX2 could get lost in a sea of electric crossovers. But with its standout styling, it most certainly does not - that's why it's our Electric Premium Coupe Crossover of the Year.
