Do Your Research before: Mark-Cool is not value for money  Posted on 02-Sep-2014

I went to Mark-Cool Auto Air-con last Wednesday, asked for Ah Huat. He is very professional and pin-point the damage part is the air-con compressor. FYI. Ah Huat works there but he is not the boss. I quickly asked for the cost of the compressor, it was quoted by the boss which was VERY EXPENSIVE. The boss was very stubborn for not willing to negotiate for the pricing.

I asked few more shops for the same part and model of the compressor, it was 70% CHEAPER than the costs quoted from Mark-Cool Auto.

I sincerely advice people to ask around for the costs before going to Mark-Cool, if you don't want to pay 70% more than market price.

Overall, Mark-Cool is not value for money, even though I truly trust Ah Huat's professional.

Aircon hissing sound  Posted on 06-May-2014

Decided to join this forum just to share input after following for so many yrs.
Last few days my old car AC started to give out some kind of funny hissing sound once turned on. Cold air was blowing as normal.
Yesterday chanced upon a shop in GL & was diagnosed as "motor faulty" and quoted $200 plus for replacement of motor. Not very convinced with this mech, decided to seek 2nd opinion.
This morning as i was in northern area, decided to drop by Mark Cool.
Drove in and was attended by ah huat promptly, who stopped working halfway at another car. Within min, he politely told me just the cabin filter issue. Taken out broken filter and explained patiently to me and on ac again, the sound was gone.
The glove compartment cover was cleaned using a cloth b4 istalled bk and front passenger floor mat was also blow clean as a added service.
But the key here is not only they know their stuff well, they r super honest as well.

Recently went down to Mark Cool due to no cold air coming out.
Asked for Ah Huat to diagnose. After checking, he told me need to replace aircon compressor and charged me $750. Comes with 3 months warranty.

Heard good review about him and decided to follow his advice. So far so good.

Got my Fiat Bravo down to check out my rattling compressor and erratic aircon. Happens only a hot day/afternoon, no issue in the early mornings or nights. Ah Huat diagnosed an overcharged compressor, which was fixed in about 15 minutes. No subsequent problems. Would definitely recommend Mark Cool for aircon issues.

After doing my research online on which aircon workshop to go to. I decided to try Mark Cool 1st. And it was the right choice. Immediately Ah Huat diagnosed my aircon issue with the wiring connector to the compressor. He just took 10mins to fix it. In the meantime, he also helped to clean my aircon fliter and blow clean my engine bay. Besides being an expert in his area, he is friendly and professional. He has won a lifetime support from me for aircon issues. I strongly recommend people to go to his workshop 1st for a honest and accurate diagnosis. Guess what, he only charged me $10.

I'd 3 quotes for my vehicle air-con at the ridiculous pricing. Had it checked by Mark Cool and got the cooling coils replaced within 1.5hr instead of leaving in the workshop for whole day to replace compressor, cooling coils, etc.
What a saving in comparison, with their professional attitudes and pricing, I'm very impressed and happy for their honesty.

My Honda car aircon suddenly no cold air yesterday at amk. Hence, went to Sin Ming for a check (I thought topping gas will do). They checked (including the relay) and says my magnetic coil faulty, and quoted $3xx and adviced me to leave car till next day.
As i felt i can still drive without aircon, I didn't agree and decide to find a second opinion near my house at woodlands.
Went to mark-cool this morning, first visit to them. I didn't mention abt the check yesterday, and requested them to diagnose. Upon first check, the compressor not running, and he says he will check further to confirm. After 10mins, he confirmed that it's just a relay problem.
A happy customer paid $30 and drove off enjoying the cool now.

2nd hand Car not cold. Found a place to fix it  Posted on 03-Sep-2011

I was driving a 2nd hand car for a few months, and very recently, the air-con was blowing hot and cold. Air is coming out but it is definitely not air-con. I have a few workshops for servicing and for audio. However, when it comes to air-con troubleshooting, I did not have any lobang. Finally came to sgcarmart to see if I can find a specialized air-con repair shop, rather than a jack-of-all-trade shop. Was afraid that those all under one roof shops can not tell me the root of the problem and will just simply direct me to their associates only. Finally settled on Mark Cool. No regrets. Was a big big place which solely servicing and fixing air-con. There must be more than 5-6 guys looking at air-con for cars, lorries and vans. An experienced-looking guy came and ask about the problem. Then start looking at the car air-con. Finally tell me the problem and after checking with the lady boss, quoted me a price and time taken to fixed it. We agreed on the pricing and they will contact me after it is fixed. Good thing that the workshop is near SSDC so I can have some coffee and lunch while waiting. They managed to fixed up the air-con much earlier than expected and problem is fixed. Happy to deal with professional people. Thumb ups.

Indeed...They are very friendly. Was having issue with my compressor. Squeaky sound whenever it kicks in. One uncle took a look at it and suggested that I should go back to agent and claim it under warranty. I really do appreciate that. But one thing which I don't really like is that he should have gave me more alternatives too rather than suggesting changing whole compressor or go back agent.(Which makes me feel that they are brushing me away) If I will to go back to the agent(As they always can't solved the problem)...I would not have gone to them as they are known as specialists in Car aircon. End of the day I got my magnetic clutch of the compressor replaced and problem solved by my regular workshop. I purchased the replacement parts myself from Malaysia as my ride is made in there.

Went there for cooling coil replacement after quoted by others at ridiculous price. Mechanics were fast and efficient, only took 1 hour to replace my Latio cooling coil. Pricing very competitive. Nice lady boss also.

Went to mark-cool on friend's recommendation on air-con fixing. Diagnosis was fast and repairs instant by 1 of the many technicians/mechanics. Only minus point was the screwup delivery of the aircon motor by their rider(out-source??) they mixed up the motors and i waited for close to 3hrs. Service is good and i think the price acceptable least they knew their stuff. 3.5stars

Went there to check out my compressor if got problems. One Uncle come to me (forget to ask him name. Check here check there, cant find any problems with my compressor except that the belt there is old and some noise come out from there. Other than that no problems. Advise me to check my engine mounting for my ca vibration problems. Spend about 15min checking my car. Then I ask him how much, he just say he didnt do anythings so NO CHARGES. Then i thought i hear wrongly, so I ask again, and he say NO CHARGES. Super good service from them. Wont be chopped for nothing for sure. So guys, if you people got any aircon problems go find them.
