The Customer Experience (The Pros):
From a client perspective, AVIS Singapore delivers well on vehicle selection, initial contract clarity and competitive rates. The booking process was straightforward, and the vehicle was delivered in clean, working condition. Mind you, you don't have to 'leave your seat' for maintenance/repairs, inspection etc. Because they will arrange for you.

The Operational Reality (The Cons/Nuances):
However, looking at the operational side, there are areas where expectations might clash with reality. For instance, traffic infringements, rigid end-of-lease wear-and-tear policies. While these policies protect the company's assets and resale values, they can feel restrictive or costly to the average driver if not thoroughly understood upfront.

The Verdict:
Overall, AVIS Singapore is still a solid, professional choice. You'll have to experience other local rental companies before you place a verdict. (I have tried many others).
If you read the fine print and understand the standard boundaries of vehicle leasing, you will have a good experience.

They are running a tight, compliant business, which means fewer surprises for them, but less flexibility for the customer.

To be frank, there is a reason why one would want to go for leasing instead of buying, YKIK. There is no 'best of both world's', so it's wise to be impartial, otherwise you can run your own leasing company and try.

Despite an initially positive discussion with AVIS' marketing team and a commitment to refund the overcharge, the Operations team continues to deliver a one-star experience. After four days of silence, I had to follow up again—only to be told the refund would take another 10 to 14 business days. What an epic customer experience this is turning out to be.

In December I rented a vehicle from AVIS at 390a Havelock Road for 30 days at $3,175. When I extended for two more weeks, I was quoted $1,537 but was later charged $3,142—$1,604 more than expected. Despite multiple follow-ups, AVIS has only offered a $950 refund, which remains unpaid. My total charge stands at $6,318.46—with $1604 owing to me—with little urgency from AVIS to resolve the issue. This experience raises serious concerns about their billing accuracy and customer service.

Avis Singapore:
We have returned the leased car to Avis on 31 Mar 21. Until today 26 Apr 21, Avis has not return us our full refund. As mentioned earlier, they charged as $860 for restoring the car to rentable condition although the car is still functional to rent out. Avis insist those scratches on the car are self damage. When we asked for proof of the restoration work that was done, the invoice from the car workshop is $800. When we asked why they have charged us additional $60. They conveniently said it's operational charges. That concluded how dishonest Avis is, trying to conned us of $860 in total. Until now they told us they need another 3 weeks to refund us by bank transfer. In conclusion, we felt cheated by Avis and we will definitely lodged a complaint with CASE (Consumer Association of Singapore.

We would like to share our experience with Avis in the light of helping others to make informed decision as Car Leasing is a long term plan. We are definitely NOT discouraging anyone to lease from Avis. With better luck, you may have better experience with them. This is our post in Avis Facebook page. " Thank you that finally someone from Avis is replying me in my Facebook. Do you know NONE of your staff including your manager reply or at least acknowledge that they have received our email and will look into it. Then we would have been more understanding and calm.

We can't deny that our emails tone were unpleasant but that is because our emails were completely ignored. We felt like Avis is hijacking our deposit. Your invoice simply said in all Capital Letters "BEING CHARGED FOR DAMAGES.....$860" Including GST. We have attached the invoice here to show that we are not exaggerating.

There is also no clause in our contract terms that said we will receive refund of our deposit only in 3 weeks time upon contract expiry but your staff kept saying that. The clause is also attached here for your reference.

We have leased your car for 5 years and paid our lease promptly through giro. We paid our last 3 months lease by quick funds transfer. For the last one month funds transfer, your finance could not confirm with us that Avis has received our funds transfer even after one week. That got us worried that our funds transfer was lost in transition. Nowadays with high banking technology, Avis would have received the funds over night. How can anyone not be frustrated in this situation.

Most parking lots in Singapore are so tight. It is inevitable and common that some drivers swing open their car doors and accidentally scratched the sides of our car.

Yes we did not return Avis a 5 year old car in brand new condition. We had one accident which we have already paid the penalty of $1K. Although the repair workmanship was sloppy, we still accepted the car as it was then, not knowing that we have to face such undesirable condition.

Avis has its shortfall too. When the car was returned to us after servicing, all our radio channels were changed to other languages. There was once the car was returned to us after servicing with a cigarette bud inside the car burning a hole in the carpet. I have attached the photo to prove my point.

Initially there were also other problems with the car which we have patiently accepted as the customer service of Mr J was excellent and followed up to resolve all the problems as attached. We had been very understanding then and was very pleased with our car lease. It is a pity that he has left Avis. He was one of the best Car Agent we have ever dealt with ".

Avis should be extremely proud to have such an outstanding personnel in Ayu to represent its brand. She answered our queries with such courtesy, and showed quick initiative when we asked for alternative options on vehicles.

We visit Singapore on an annual basis and such outstanding service rendered by Ayu may well make us a repeat customer of Avis.

I would like to compliment the Avis team at Avis Rental Singapore Airport terminal 2) for the excellent customer service extended to me from in February.

When I first made a reservation online, there was some technical issues, and Avis was very prompt in the reply to my email. The staff even followed up with a subsequent email to make sure that the rental process went on smoothly.

Thank you for making my trip meaningful, and for the excellent service by Avis Singapore.

Terrible customer service...Was charged extra without any explanation or receipt. I have tried calling many times to inquire about the additional charges but have just been told "we don't have any details..." "Please speak to our manager..." "Our manager is not around..." Pick up & drop off was such a breeze & the car given was in good and clean condition. There's even a manual booklet of the car provided. I got the Chevrolet Orlando, picked up at T2 Arrival. Had just taken a car from them; It is not that horribly expensive that i used to think...Excellent customer service, very young fleet of cars, proper procedures, proper cover and support, and flexible rental/return timing as the airport branch is open daily til 11pm including sundays. For these and the total piece of mind, the 15% higher price than the 'cheaper' alternatives is totally worth it. (after discount from airport promo and etc) Plus, for us living in east, going airport can be easier than town or turf city.. Will rent again from avis

Althought price is a bit expensive but i think its worth. Because i am able to get friendly provider, The process is hassle free. Renting a vehicle from them would nv be a dissapointment. Ch33rs!!
