Throughout the rental, I was repeatedly asked to return the vehicle for servicing — often without the courtesy of refueling it afterward. While that alone was a minor inconvenience, the real issues began in May.
Out of nowhere, I was told that additional charges would apply for driving the car into Malaysia — despite our original agreement explicitly including Malaysia usage as part of the deal. When questioned, the response was that while the agreement still "Allowed" Driving in, the new VEP policy meant extra fees now applied. Frankly, it is absurd and unethical to change the terms of a contract midway through without proper renegotiation or consent. After extended discussions, we mutually agreed to terminate the contract.
I walked away without bad blood, though I must say the cost was excessive — nearly $1,800 per month for a 9-year-old vehicle, and additional fees of $35 per day to Johor and $80 per day to Kuala Lumpur.
What crossed the line entirely was what happened afterward. Two weeks ago, I received a final warning letter from LTA regarding an unpaid toll fine. Upon checking, I realized that when the company took back the vehicle, they had removed the cash card from the IU — causing a toll violation. No one informed me of this until the final warning arrived. Only then was the fine forwarded to me.
When I contacted Roger — the same salesperson I initially dealt with — to seek clarification, he chose to ignore me completely.
This level of irresponsibility and avoidance is unacceptable. Whether due to negligence or a complete lack of accountability, this behavior reflects very poorly on the company. Customers should not be penalized for oversights caused by the service provider.
