My car got Coolant leaking problem last week. At another workshop they list so many things that need to be replaced and quote of S$3000 plus. But So lucky I found SVJ car workshop, repair fast, professional and really reasonable cost, boss KEEN very honest and try to save the money for customer. He explained the details of every part my car needed to replace and the cost to me. While they did the repair they covered my car very well using the protection and after work they cleaned the whole car, even everything under the hood. Went for engine cyl head remove, clean and refit back, quoted sgd880, then add in gasket o rings etc, exclude fuel pump, bill came up sgd2400. I paid without much question since, 1st time here and daily I been siting there after work, take off few days , finally day 4, test run the car. Whole engine jammed. As usual, SVJ didn't take responsibility and blame me for revving up engine to 3000/4000 RPM.. Don't make sense at all. Once open engine oil bottom plug, found oil so so dirty,thou SVJ claim they have replaced new oil, Engine was running less than 1hour idling, 15mins on the road, prior died down. Finally, SVJ wanted to swap the whole engine, after dismantling all. I refused since doesn't make sense at all and towed out my car. So, all in, lost almost sgd3k, including grab for me, towing etc and now maybe another sgd8k or so for overhauling. God bless me Just to add on for SVJ reply dated 16th Apr 1) no new parts ie piston, con rod, bearings, piston rings changed for the sgd2400, purely for labour, some gaskets etc and low pressure fuel pp x sgd400 which SVJ claim popped when they 1st start engine. So, dont understand what's SVJs point to drive 1000/2000 RPM ? 2) after engine jammed, crank was jammed, we checked manually. Engine oil was totally black when draining. Which engine oil turns black after engine running less than 15mins on the road? When opened up, camshaft was dry, all journals worn out etc etc. - Mahendran Krishnan

Quick responses and provides pictures of all the parts that are changed and updates with pictures of different stages of work done to the car. Was there to do my regular servicing 3 weeks ago. I was been told by the boss my rear brake pad got worn off and been quoted A3 OEM $120, original $180 and Ceramic pad $220. Opted for OEM and he claims stock will take about 3 hrs to be in his shop. He told me I can drop by next weekend to install again and settle the payment thereafter. Went there on the next weekend to change my rear brake pad. After installation, was been told to pay $160 for the OEM brake pad. I told him this was not what he quoted to me. He just said it manufacture from Europe. Feeling unhappy as this was my regular workshop that I have done with change of my air con air compressor and engine mounting. I immediately paid off as do not want to waste anymore time with this person. For me, no matter how good is their servicing package, I will never drop by again with sure a person with not integrity. Business can only do long only if you gain trust from your customer and not by increase the price after the installation which was previously agreeed. Another scenario happened was with my air con compressor. I was been told that might be issue with the my car sensor and he claims need to send to another workshop at Kaki Bukit which his workshop is located at Jurong to test if the issue was due to sensor or air con compressor. However, after he just left his workshop less than 5 mins ago, the new air con compressor just delivered to his shop. Thereafter, I received a call from him about 40 - 50 minutes later and mentioned issue was due to my compressor. I am fine to change my air con compressor but you can be more straightforward then been so drama and wasted half of my day in your workshop. Lastly, I got to agree with some of the comments that they will not quote you the price for the change of parts if only you insist to ask for them before change. - Desmond Choo

This place is a total scam. Came here to get it check for my mercs' hard to start and jerking issue. The guy came over to conduct some smoke test without saying the price. Alr told the guy that there was no need for a smoke test as I just did one recently but he insisted. And after the test was done, there was no leakage issue and wanted me to change so many things. He charged $90 for the smoke test. Gosh. What a scam. Pls don't come here. To reply the comment below: the mechanic already plugged in the smoke test device before informing me. And he did not state the charges. I was only informed of the pricing when I decided to leave. Anyway the mechanic recommended all the big items to change.
