Girls galore; side-swiping the many car, aftermarket shop exhibitors and car-based competitions at the event

Super Import Nights made its timely appearance again this year, this time over the Hari Raya long weekend. Crowds were unexpectedly rampant and the events were packed, leaving many latecomers with less-than-comfortable amounts of room to squeeze.

Its key success lies in the lessons learnt from last year, that is, to not have it coincide very near the actual dates of the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix in terms of venue and timing. So despite being situated at the Singapore Expo in far-off Changi instead of Suntec City, it leaves us with a few days of breathing space before the F1 festivities begin.

There in the exhibition we found a healthy mixture of booths from both new car importers as well as aftermarket advertisers dealing with products such as window-tints, tyres and other performance items.

Even the famed Subaru Challenge was staged at the event, along with richly-sponsored mini-drift rides, available to various contest winners.

But the most well-received event was of course, the SIN showgirls and models exhibit, where once again, photographers in possession of Canon cameras were not allowed to enter the up-front staging area as it was an exclusive Nikon-sponsored event. However, that did not stop the many photographic opportunities taken by show-goers, what with international import personalities such as K.T So and pole dancers from both Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.

By the way, show-goers also got to pole dance with them. Feeling like you missed out already? Maybe next year...
