Porsche has thus far had the monopoly over showcasing breathtaking machines at Singapore's Jewel Changi Airport, but that streak is now being broken as a fresh name takes the spotlight for a few days.
Gracing our shores as Chinese tech giant Xiaomi celebrates the opening of its largest Singapore store in Jewel Changi Airport, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has touched down at Level 1 right in front of the Jewel Rain Vortex for visitors to gawk at and get up close with.
The SU7 Ultra is described by Xiaomi as a road-legal four-door racecar - one that boasts more than 1,500bhp and has a record lap around the Nurburgring under its belt
Sgcarmart understands from conversations with the store staff that the car is making the briefest of stops here; it's likely to be on display only till the end of this weekend.
First unveiled in October 2024, the SU7 Ultra marks the performance variant of the Xiaomi SU7 - Xiaomi's first ever production electric car released in 2023.
Bling bling: The SU7 Ultra gets gold-plated brand emblems as well as 'U' and 'Ultra' badging all over to denote its special identity
In case any suspicions remain, that 'Ultra' suffix is not for show (nor are its gold plated emblems, or 'U' badges).
The SU7 Ultra gets a tri-motor setup (the standard SU7s get either a single or dual-motor drivetrain) that puts a whopping 1,138kW (1,526bhp) and 1,770Nm of torque, allowing it to shred up the century sprint in just 1.98 seconds. That makes it one of the most powerful electric cars to have tasted Singaporean soil, placing only behind the likes of the Rimac Nevera. In fact, the SU7 Ultra's blistering turn of pace allowed it to set a new record around the Nurburgring Nordschleife earlier in April this year with a lap time of just 7:04.957 minutes.
It's not just sheer power upgrades that the Ultra boasts over the standard SU7s too, but also aerodynamic enhancements for added downforce, as well as the use of variant-specific carbon fibre for weight savings.
The electric hypercar also gets beefier carbon ceramic brakes to handle its immense firepower, as well as 21-inch wheels shod in Michelin P Zero high performance tyres with staggered profiles: 265/35 items up front, and 305/30 ones at the rear. And on the inside, the SU7 Ultra gets a sporty cabin to match too, replete with Alcantara surfaces and - yup, you guessed it - carbon fibre bucket seats.

Interestingly, the SU7 Ultra that you'll get to get up close with at Jewel also stands testament to the tech focus that Xiaomi promises.
Perched above its windscreen is a powerful suite of sensors - including LiDARs - that give the hypercar autonomous driving capabilities, while its B-pillar sports an NFC reader that supports digital key connectivity (effectively, you'll just need to carry your Xiaomi smartphone around to lock and unlock the car).
The only downer? It doesn't seem that even the most well-heeled Singaporean buyers will get to properly enjoy owning the car - at least not for the foreseeable future. Sgcarmart understands that because the SU7 Ultra is still currently sold exclusively in China, no plans have been firmed up yet to bring it to export markets (including Singapore).
