The 2024 Mazda CX-80 has achieved a maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating in the latest crash test safety tests.
The brand's seven-seat flagship SUV scored 92% for Adult Occupancy (full marks in Lateral and Rear Impact), 88% for Child Occupancy (full marks in Frontal and Lateral Impact and CRS Installation Check), and 84% for Vulnerable Road Users protection (autonomous emergency braking response).
Its comprehensive range of i-Activsense driver-supporting safety technologies secured a 79% Safety Assist rating. In addition, the CX-80 attained a maximum score in the Lane Support category for Emergency Lane Keeping, Lane Keep Assist, and Human Machine Interface. Its AEB Car-to-Car performance also received a good rating in numerous fields relating to approaching other cars and crossing the path of an oncoming car.
Mazda's Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture, which forms the basis of the CX-80's longitudinal front-engine rear-wheel drive mechanical layout, also contributed to the rating, with its rear-biased all-wheel drive system combining the stability and grip of an AWD set-up with the neutral cornering characteristics of a rear-wheel drive system.
