Audi celebrates the A6 with stunning Ingolstadt photoshoot

Briefly thought to be a nameplate that would be lost to Audi's revised model-naming convention, the combustion-powered A6 (codenamed the C9) continues in its sixth generation now as one of Ingolstadt's most iconic models.
To celebrate the unbroken lineage of its mid-sized sedan (or wagon) - one that started with the Audi Coupe S (also known as the C1) of the mid 1960s - Audi has brought together all nine generations of its C-Series cars for a stunning photoshoot at the Audi Piazza of its Ingolstadt headquarters.
The photoshoot included the likes of Audi's aerodynamically groundbreaking Audi 100 (C2), and the first-ever Audi A6 (C4) of the early 1990s
The event appears to have been made possible for the very fact that Audi's own employees happen to be mega-fans of its C-series cars themselves. Eight of them, in particular, are proud owners of each generation including the likes of the iconic aerodynamic Audi 100 of the 1980s, as well as the first ever Audi A6, which launched in 1994.
Rounding off the lineup, of course, was the latest-generation Audi A6 Avant.
Built atop of the all-new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the A6 is said to be more dynamic, efficient and digital than ever before. The Avant body style has been available across European dealerships since mid-May, while the Sedan is slated for launch in July.
Audi states that its C-Series cars are among the most successful in its lineup. The Bavarian marque has built almost ten million units so far - or 9,836,762 as of April 2025 to be exact.
