BMW Eurokars Auto joins Botero universe with art car trio

Fans of contemporary art have likely already marked their calendars for the arrival of Botero in Singapore on our shores. The landmark, largest-of-its-kind exhibition encompassing 130 original works by the late Maestro Fernando Botero is set to land at IMBA Theatre at Gardens by the Bay in late January.
But now, a fresh collaboration with one of our most revered car brands, spearheaded by one of its official dealers, should give them even more reason to rejoice - especially because it potentially means that they’ll get to catch Botero's works rolling past on our roads for years to come.
Fernando Botero Zea, the eldest son of the late Maestro Fernando Botero, speaking to guests at a media preview hosted at the BMW Eurokars Experience Centre
Presented ahead of the official arrival of the exhibition, BMW Eurokars Auto has proudly unveiled an artistic collaboration conceived alongside Botero in Singapore, with three bespoke art cars serving as the centrepiece of the partnership. (Concurrently, Eurokars has also announced its participation as the exhibition's Official Automotive Partner.)
Dubbed 'BMW Eurokars Auto x Botero: A Precious Steed', its title holds multifold significance. For starters, it nods to Chinese culture by celebrating 2026 as the Year of the Horse. Then, there's also BMW's Chinese name, 宝马 (báo mǎ), which translates quite literally into 'precious horse or steed' in English.
This particular Boterismo-infused iX xDrive40 is one of the three art cars birthed from the collaboration. Perhaps its most eye-catching feature is its bespoke twin-kidney grille
But for those less in the know, here's where the title gets particularly resonant: The image of the horse is also an oft-recurring motif in Botero's work, serving as a vessel for him to explore themes like family heritage and personal memory.
Unsurprisingly, BMW Eurokars Auto and Botero in Singapore appear to have selected the very best of the modern BMW range as their canvases.
Visitors will also get to experience this special 735i up close at the BMW Eurokars Experience Centre
Unveiled at the BMW Eurokars Experience Centre during a special media preview on Monday (19 January 2025) were a bespoke BMW 735i and BMW iX xDrive40, each bearing its own unique Botero-inspired graphic treatments. Both will go on public display at the same space, on the weekend of 24 and 25 January 2025. (Additional note: BMW Eurokars Auto has extended the display till 22 February 2026, giving visitors more time to get up close with the cars.)
To complete the 'A Precious Steed' experience, though, you'll want to head down to IMBA, Gardens by the Bay from late January, when the Botero in Singapore exhibition goes full swing. There, the final member of the trio - another BMW 735i with its own unique Botero decals - will take a stand alongside the other works on display.
With the curated designs on the three cars meant to evoke the "powerful yet poised" presence of the horse, BMW Eurokars Auto has stated that the models were selected because they "[embody] contemporary luxury, advanced technology and progressive mobility".
And here's the extra special news: All three bespoke vehicles will be available for purchase through BMW Eurokars Auto, with each said to represent "a highly exclusive expression of Botero art and BMW craftsmanship, design and collectability". Sgcarmart understands that private viewings are already being extended to select customers, with prices for the cars available upon request.
BMW Eurokars Auto has also treated members of its BMW Excellence Club to a private evening with Mr Botero
Following a media preview on Monday afternoon (19 January 2025), BMW Eurokars Auto also hosted a private evening with its BMW Excellence Club members (comprising its 7 Series owners exclusively), during which they were able to get up close with the cars and listen to a special sharing by Fernando Botero Jr on his father's legacy.
While it's no stretch to state that BMW has gotten itself quite well-acquainted with both bespoke one-offs and whimsical art cars throughout its long history, it's worth noting still that the latest news brings the brand into exclusive and uncharted territory. 'BMW Eurokars Auto x Botero in Singapore: A Precious Steed' marks the first time in history that Botero has worked with an automotive brand, thus also making it the first official use of the automobile as a canvas for Botero's trademark exaggeration of volume and shapes.
Also set to be present during the public showcase this weekend are the BMW 3.0 CSL and BMW Skytop - both highly-limited, one-of-50 models owned by Eurokars Group
The latest collaboration with Botero in Singapore continues BMW Eurokars Auto's showcase of exclusive or one-off BMWs in Singapore, and follows in the footsteps of the BMW i7 Singapore Icons, the BMW 3.0 CSL, and the BMW Skytop, the latter of which recently made its local debut at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show.
In commemoration of the collaboration, BMW Eurokars Auto has also brought the 3.0 CSL and Skytop out for visitors to get up close with during the public showcase of its two Botero art cars at its BMW Eurokars Experience Centre this weekend.
