COE prices continue to climb across all categories

April's first COE bidding saw prices rise across the board. Riding on the back of strong replacement demand, Cat E prices recorded the sharpest hike in this exercise of close to $6,000, while Cat A and B rose by $3,000 and $4,700 respectively.
Cat B premiums closed at $76,612 - a hike of $4,723 or 6.6 percent.
The Open Category, or Category E, saw premiums rise by $5,900 to end the bidding at $78,000 - a 8.2 percent increase.

The rise is also likely to be caused by the backlog of orders received by car dealerships, which increased competition during the bidding.
