Cycle and Carriage Kia has set the national record for Singapore's Longest Test Drive Relay, featuring their latest hybrid model, the new Kia Niro Hybrid on 30 October 2022. Having achieved a distance of more than 900km on a single tank of fuel, the Niro Hybrid was put to the test to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency.
18 participants covered a total distance of 970.3km (the equivalent of travelling between Changi Airport and Tuas 17 times) over a period of 21 hours and 32 minutes, starting on 29 October 2022.
The final participant crossed the finish line at 11:40am on 30 October 2022. This officially places Cycle and Carriage Kia in the Singapore Book of Records as the Longest Test Drive Relay in the nation.
In spite of varying road and traffic conditions, as well as different styles of driving by 18 test drivers, the Niro Hybrid was still able to achieve a fuel efficiency of more than 24km/L, which is very close to the manufacturer's claimed fuel consumption of 25km/L.
Participants also had the opportunity to experience the Kia Connect Lite feature during this relay, which through remote control and monitoring, helped to facilitate a smooth drive throughout the event. The Kia Connect Lite comes as a standard feature in all Niro Hybrid cars.
