Ford has launched the new Ranger pickup truck here in Singapore.
The pickup is offered at launch here with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This unit produces a total of 168bhp and 405Nm of torque, and retails from $129,888 here before COE.
Dual recovery hooks in the front bumper are offered for those that want to take their ranger far off the beaten path Design wise, you'll most easily differentiate this from the previous Ford Ranger thanks to the use of new C-Clamp head light signature. The head lights and grille have also been redesigned with this new Ranger, while the wheel arches have been made more prominent.
Under all this sheet metal, the chassis has also received changes to raise ride and handling. The front wheels have been moved forward by 50mm and further outboard for an improved approach angle and better off-road articulation.
At the rear, the rear suspension dampers have also been moved outboard of the frame rails for an improved ride.
The bed of the Ford Ranger is lined with a tough plastic-moulded bedliner and comes with a cargo management system for storing smaller items Those that plan to take their Ford Ranger off-road will also be pleased to note that the pickup is available with either an electronic shift-on-the-fly or a full-time four-wheel drive system. Off-road recovery is also made easier thanks to two recovery hooks in the front bumper of the pickup truck.
In the cabin, the Ford Ranger now gets premium soft-touch materials alongside a 10-inch central touchscreen equipped with Ford's SYNC 4 connectivity and entertainment system.
This central touchscreen also will facilitate switching between the vehicle's different off-road driving modes, and displays the vehicle's steering angle, vehicle pitch and roll angles. Customers can also control the Ranger's exterior zone lighting system via the touchscreen, which should give added safety for those that need to do work or set up camp after the sun has set.
Aft of this cabin, the Ford Ranger comes with a tough plastic-moulded bedliner that helps protect the truck bed from scratches. The Ranger also now utilises a cargo management system with dividers to hold a variety of smaller items securely.
