Ford to take new all-electric super van up Pikes Peak

Ford has announced that it will take a new, all-electric van up the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Little has been revealed about this van, save for the fact that it is currently being called the 'SuperVan 4', has been developed by both Ford Performance and motorsport firm STARD, and will come with an all-wheel drive system powered by a 50kWh ultra high-performance cell battery. Ford has also revealed that the performance van will come with carbon composite body features, an FIA specification roll cage, and adjustable regenerative braking.
Ford last revealed the 2,000bhp Ford Pro Electric SuperVan last year (the van which you see in the picture above). The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan also utilised a 50kWh liquid-cooled battery, and was also co-developed with STARD.
Ford has participated in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb since 1916 with a Model T. Its latest entrant into the climb, meanwhile, was a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500SE, which participated in the event in 2022. For 2023, the SuperVan 4 will be piloted by French Race Driver Romain Dumas, who in 2018, set a record at the hill climb with the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak, so Ford's SuperVan 4 is clearly in very capable hands. This latest climb will be Dumas' ninth appearance at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
