Honda to adopt North American Charging Standard in the U.S.A
Following similar moves from Ford, Volvo, and Polestar, Honda has now joined the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in the U.S.A, after having reached an agreement with Tesla Inc.
Following this agreement, Honda's electric vehicles will begin featuring NACS ports from 2025. This move will begin, Honda states, with a yet-to-be revealed electric model, and all of its vehicles will adopt the NACS standard following this change.
Its vehicles launched in the U.S.A before 2025, meanwhile, will continue to utilise the CCS port, although these will be compatible with NACS chargers through the use of an adaptor.
This move comes following a recent announcement by Honda that it will be participating in a joint venture comprising of seven other automobile manufacturers that aims to build a high-powered charging network for electric vehicle owners across North America.
