Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation have announced that they will be partnering with Samsung Electronics to enhance the integration between Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and smartphones.
Both firms are aiming to gain a leading position in the mobility service ecosystem ahead of a new SDV era. To that end, they are working on a next-generation infotainment system and an open mobility ecosystem in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group's global software centre, 42dot. This development aims to provide a user-centred vehicle environment, enhancing the connectivity of the infotainment system set to be unveiled in 2026.
All three firms are said to already be working on a service for vehicle location verification, which will allow customers to check their vehicle’s location through the Connected Car Service app in unexpected situations, for example if they have forgotten where they parked or in case of theft.
Hyundai and Kia also plan to simplify the member registration process by linking user accounts with Samsung Electronics, so future services from the areas of healthcare, pet care, and vehicle interior care, all optimised to individual consumer preferences, can be offered.
