Hyundai has also given the Genesis Coupe a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit that is taken from the Sonata Turbo, and features a larger radiator intercooler and a twin-scroll turbocharger. The new 2.0-litre turbo churns out 275bhp and 372Nm of torque.
Both engines will be available with Hyundai’s eight-speed automatic transmission that replaces the current 2.0-litre Turbo's 5-speed auto and the 3.8-litre V6's 6-speed auto. A six-speed manual gearbox will also be available for both Genesis models.
The all-new Genesis gets the Veloster's new hexagonal grille along with restyled headlights and LED positioning lamps, plus revised tail lamps with LEDs and a brand new centre console that includes a standard multi-gauge located above the air-conditioning controls.
The new Genesis Coupe was unveiled at the Korea Speed Festival 2011 in Yeongam, Korea, on November 12, and the car gets an all-new 3.8-litre GDi Lambda V6 engine with direct-injection that puts out 350bhp and 400Nm of torque. Hyundai adds that, "in order to raise the emotional quality in the Lambda 3.8 GDi model, a sound generator is applied to replace the rough engine sound with a classy and sporty sound."
