Hyundai has unveiled the new all-electric Inster at the Busan International Mobility Show.
The car is said to be positioned to sit between A-segment sub-compact city cars and larger B-segment compact models, offering both manoeuvrability and ease of use as well as the practicality of a more spacious interior.
The Hyundai Inster measure in at just 3,825mm long, making it significantly smaller than the compact Hyundai Venue
Up front, the car gets a LED daytime running light signature and makes use of the same pixel design motif we know from the Ioniq 5, here deployed to inform the design of the car's turn signals, tailights, and bumpers. Customers will be able to get their car with LED projection head lights, as well as a contrasting black roof, and 15 or 17-inch alloy wheels will be available.
In the cabin, the Hyundai Inster makes use of a 10.25-inch digital cluster alongside a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes complete with navigation. The car also features a wireless charging dock on its centre console.
The car's steering wheel also features pixel graphics, whiles the uppers of its door trim garnishes can be customised. All seats of the car can also be folded flat.
The Hyundai Inster comes with a 42kWh battery as standard, although a long-range variant equipped with a 49kWh battery (facilitating a WLTP range of 355km) will also be offered. This battery can be charged at up to 120kW via a direct current charger, and at 11kW via an alternating current charger.
The standard model comes with a 95bhp electric motor, while the long-range variant comes with a 113bhp electric motor.
The Hyundai Inster is set to launch in mid-2024 in Korea, and Hyundai states that launches will follow soon after in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Hyundai additionally states that the Inster Cross, which will sport a more rugged, outdoor-focused design, will also join its lineup in the future.
