Icona to showcase one-off Vulcano Titanium at Pebble Beach
12 Aug 2015|2,726 views
Italian designer Icona will make its appearance at Pebble Beach with a one-off Vulcano Titanium. As the name implies, the supercar is made from a mix of titanium and carbon fibre, and the body reportedly requires 1,000 hours of craftsmanship to build.
The overall design of what Icona calls the world's first titanium car is largely the same at the original Vulcano. The passenger compartment is pushed as far back as possible to allow for a long, angular hood to protrude in front. The vents behind each wheel pulls hot air through the engine bay and are one of the best styling features.
When Icona debuted the Vulcano at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, the supercar was offered with a 950bhp hybrid V12. That's gone on the Titanium in favour of a Corvette ZR1-sourced supercharged V8 with 670bhp and 840Nm of torque. The company claims that the less powerful mill can still get the coupe to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds, to 193km/h in 8.8 seconds, and to a top speed of 354km/h.
