International media launch of the new MINI Electric

The international media launch of the first ever MINI Electric was hosted in Miami, Florida. It is the first model to combine electromobility in an urban setting with the hallmark brand properties of the original in the premium segment of small cars.
Powering the MINI Electric is a 135kW electric motor capable of sending 270Nm of instantaneous torque to the front wheels. Thus, the car is capable of accelerating from zero to 60km/h in 3.9 seconds, and zero to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.
The model-specific lithium-ion battery is made up of lithium-ions cells subdivided into 12 modules and form a T-shaped unit positioned in the vehicle floor, providing a gross energy content of 32.6kWh. This gives the car a range of 235km to 270km.
The MINI Electric retains the Cooper's hallmark design characteristics - powerful proportions, the typical three-part structure consisting of the body frame, all-round greenhouse and roof, short overhangs and widely set wheels.
There are, however, precisely applied accentuations that indicate its future-oriented drive system. An embossed MINI Electric logo on the charge connection cover marks the difference in terms of energy input.
Yellow versions of this signet also appear on the lateral turn indicator inserts, as well as on the tailgate and front radiator grill. The central element of the front fascia features a closed-grille hexagonal contour, while a yellow decorative bar on the grill and yellow exterior mirror caps round out the unique exterior touches.
The new MINI Cooper SE is fitted as standard with a model-specific instrument cluster consisting of a 5.5-inch colour screen in Black Panel design behind the steering wheel. Other digital displays in the instrument cluster can show a variety of information, including battery charge level, selected Driving Mode, available range, current drive power, traffic sign detection reports and high-guiding directions from the navigation system.
The MINI Electric also offers charging flexibility - it can be connected via a conventional household power socket, the MINI Electric Wallbox or a public charging station. The standard charging cable is available for connection to a household socket. A MINI Electric Wallbox is optionally available for home charging as well as a three-phase cable for use at public charging stations.
Both options allow the high-voltage battery of the new MINI Cooper SE to be charged at a maximum capacity of 11kW, to 80% in two and a half hours, and 100% in three and a half hours. The charging unit of the new MINI Cooper SE is designed for a maximum charging capacity of 50kW, allowing an 80% charge to be achieved in just 35 minutes by using a DC fast-charging station.
The MINI Electric is expected to make its way to Singapore in the third quarter of this year.
