Lancia has marked its official return to the world of rallying after having put its Ypsilon Rally4 HF to the test at the Stellantis Proving Ground in Balocco with Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO behind the wheel.
Located in Italy's Vercelli province, the Balocco complex spans over 80km of track and is said be an excellence centre for high-performance testing.
Lancia is preparing to write a new chapter with the introduction of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF and the new Ypsilon HF, both officially unveiled last May. The Ypsilon Rally4 HF is designed for competition, with a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine developing 210bhp and a five-speed manual transmission with a mechanical limited-slip differential.
The Ypsilon HF, on the other hand, is the high-performance road version of the brand's first vehicle in its new era, powered by a 100% electric engine delivering 276bhp. With an acceleration from zero to 100km/h in 5.8 seconds, the Ypsilon HF combines exceptional performance with a design inspired by Lancia's most radical vehicles of the past, featuring a lowered chassis and widened track.
The brand aims to re-establish its presence in motorsport by 2025.
