Lancia reveals new all-electric Ypsilon

Just four months after Stellantis first announced that it would be reviving the Lancia brand has seen the unveiling of its new all-electric Ypsilon.
Measuring in at 4,080mm long and 1,760mm wide, the Ypsilon is set to compete against cars including the e-208 and the new MINI Cooper Electric.
The car may look radically different from the boxy Lancias that rally fans will be familiar with, however, the firm does state that the Ypsilon's sensual shape has been influenced by historic models including the Aurelia and Flaminia as well as its sportier models such as the Stratos and Delta. Additional sources of inspiration for the model include the world of architecture, fashion, and furniture.
Up front, the Ypsilon gets nearly round head lights, which, alongside its circular lights at the rear, are inspired by those found on the Stratos. The head lights are visually connected via three rays of LED light designed to make the hatchback recognisable from afar, both in the day and at night. These LED rays sit below a black section - a nod to the Lancia Beta Montecarlo.
The rear of the Ypsilon, meanwhile, features its model lettering as 'handwritten' characters - a touch inspired by models including the Fulvia, Flavia, and Flaminia.
In the cabin, the Lancia Ypsilon features the firm's SALA virtual and intelligent interface (short for Sound Air Light Augmentation, as well as meaning 'living room' in Italian).
This system is said to offer easy access to the car's audio and climate control and lighting functions all via the 20.5-inch infotainment unit. Further contributing to the idea of the cabin as a living room are the seats of the Ypsilon, which are electrically adjustable, heated, and come complete with a massage function. These seats also feature a ribbed weave, said to allow them to offer a level of comfort equal to armchairs.
At launch, a total of 1,906 (the year Lancia was founded) examples of the Ypsilon Edizione Limitata Cassina will also be built, all featuring seats with a 100% recycled blue velvet yarn upholstery and a Lancia Blue exterior body. These cars will also feature a multifunctional tavolino (Italian for small table) made of bio-based plastic with saddle-leather upholstery.
The Lancia Ypsilon comes equipped with a 154bhp electric motor, powered by a 51kWh battery that allows it to boast a 403km WLTP combined cycle range. The car is said to be able to charge from a 20% to an 80% state-of-charge in just 24 minutes.
Lancia is set to expand is European presence with a network of 70 new dealers in 70 major cities, with Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Germany set to get the first showrooms.
