Man arrested for serial car vandalism

A serial case of vandalism took place at a car park in Bishan Street 13 on the first day of July. Police received a call at around 6:22am yesterday morning about a total of 23 cars being damaged by vandalism. A 36-year old man has been arrested in relation to the case.
Speaking to The Straits Times, Mr Roman Anthony, a 52-year old teacher, said, "Thank goodness mine is not a white car or the damage would have been very prominent". His black Suzuki was one of the cars not spared from the vandalism.
Another resident, who's car has also been damaged, said his wife has seen a suspicious acting man at the car park at 4:30am. Upon taking closer look of the car, she realised that it has been vandalised, and the man fled after seeing her.
Judging from the notices on at least of two of the cars, it is believed that the case is related to loan shark harassment. An expert on the matter, however, told the local papers that it is rare for loan sharks to involve so many 'innocent parties' in their acts.
First time offenders found guilty of any act of loan shark harassment can be jailed and fined for up to five years and $50,000 respectively. Male offenders may also be caned. Repeated offenders may serve a maximum of nine years in jail, and fined up to $60,000.
