Mazda has revealed the new, seven-seater CX-90 SUV.
The SUV is the second model that sits within the firm's Large Product Group, following the CX-60. This group is set to get another two models, all of which, Mazda states, offer raised levels of performance when it comes to environmental protection and safety, as well as heightened driving joy.
The car is built on an all new large platform that features a front-engine, rear-wheel-bias longitudinal layout to elevate Mazda's signature driving performance.
The CX-90 largely follows the design philosophy set by the CX-90, with body panels crafted with curves designed to manipulate light and shadow. Here, however, a wider body, larger fenders, as well as a longer wheelbase all serve to emphasise a strong stance.
The SUV also comes complete with chrome garnishes on its lower sections, which pair with 21-inch wheels to give the car a strong presence. A new Takuminuri colour, Artisan Red, is also being launched with the Mazda CX-90.
The interior of the CX-90, meanwhile, has been designed to offer a modern and linear appearance.
An optional See-Through View 360-degree parking camera system will be offered with the CX-90 in the U.S.A, which Mazda states will assist in a variety of parking situations through the 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The third row of the car has also been designed to seat three and comes equipped with its own air conditioning vents.
The Mazda CX-90 is being offered in the U.S.A with a 3.3-litre turbocharged engine paired to a mild hybrid system, offering 335bhp and 500Nm of torque.
A plug-in hybrid drivetrain will also be available, which pairs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8kWh battery. This drivetrain offers a total of 319bhp and 500Nm of peak torque.
