MINI has revealed its entry-level Countryman. Set to be called the Countryman C (more powerful variants will be called the Countryman S), the premium SUV gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 168bhp alongside 280Nm of torque. This engine comes paired to a mild hybrid system.
For comparison, the outgoing MINI Countryman S delivers a total power output of 176bhp and 280Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre engine. MINI states that the new Countryman C will take 8.3 seconds to complete the century sprint and can deliver a fuel economy of 16.4km/L. The SUV will offer a total of 202mm of ground clearance and will be offered with rims ranging in sizes ranging from 17 to 21-inches.
In the cabin, the MINI Countryman C comes with standard sports seats that are upholstered in a patterned multi-tone textile. The three rear seats can be individually adjusted and come with backrests that offer 12 degrees of adjustment. These seats can also slide fore and aft by 13cm, allowing users to trade legroom in the rear for more cargo space.
A round 240mm (9.4-inch) OLED display as seen in the MINI Countryman E continues to feature in the Countryman C. This screen will allow all infotainment and assistance systems to be operated conveniently and intuitively via touch or voice command.
Buyers will be able to spec their Countryman C in a total of four trim variants, 'Essential', 'Classic', 'Favoured', or 'JCW', which will open up different paint and roof colours as well as various interior finishes.
