Nissan prioritises safety on the Ariya

Nissan is placing safety at the forefront of its ambitions in order to reduce the occurrence of deaths from accidents involving Nissan vehicles, including EVs.

At the Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan, a team of engineers put the Nissan Ariya through hundreds of extensive tests including frontal-side and rear-impact collisions, as well as those that simulate accidents when pedestrians are on the road. 

Results reveal that the Ariya's body and cabin structure, make it possible to absorb a variety of impacts, offering superior protection for drivers and passengers.

Engineers from Nissan's Passive Safety Evaluation Group measured the force of potential impact on the vehicle's body and structural components, as well as its effects on the driver and passengers via test dummies of various sizes and body types equipped with multiple sensors that record simulated injury levels to vital areas of the body.

Nissan has also ensured that due to high voltage battery pack of the Ariya can withstand a crash without the electrodes leaking thanks to the vehicle's structural integrity.
