The Invitation Concept that was first showcased at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and unlike most concept to production transition, the new Note seems largely unchanged to its design study. The new Note ditches its MPV roots of its predecessor and takes the shape of a hatchback.
Yet unlike most of its B-Segment siblings like the Renault Clio or Ford Fiesta, it features a taller roof for an "airy cabin". From the rear it mildly resembles the Honda Fit/Jazz superminis. Despite its compact size, the Nissan Around View Monitor (AVM) parking assistance system is also available.
In Nissan’s home market of Japan, the new Note will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which is either naturally aspirated or supercharged. Both engines’ are bundled with a next-generation XTRONIC CVT and an Idling Stop System for the 2WD models.
The supercharged engine delivers a fuel economy of 25.2 km/L and though official performance figures are yet to be released, a similar powertrain in the Micra/March produces 97bhp and 79bhp for the naturally aspirated. The Japanese-market Note will be produced at Kyushu, Japan whiles the European version will be built in the U.K.
