"The Nissan QASHQAI fills in the vacuum of SUV-hatchback crossover segment in the Singapore market currently," said Mr A C Neo, Marketing Director of Tan Chong Motor Sales Pte Ltd. "By introducing this new crossover, we are opening up a new choice to buyers who are looking at an up-sized hatchback that offers agility whilst having the commanding presence of a SUV."
He also added, "We are very encouraged by the pre-launch orders of the QASHQAI and we are confident that this car will do well in its segment. Market demand from our order books indicates customers are willing to pay more forthe premium variant even though it costs $4,500 more."
A new Xtronic CVT-M6 with newly adopted Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) functions in conjunction with the MR20DE 2-litre engine. Nissan used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for the first time ever in designing the QASHQAI body, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.35.
The Qashqai is offered in a choice of five body colours in standard black interior:
Diamond Silver and four all-new colours, Urban Cement, Met Black, Café Latté Beige and Fire Copper.
There are two trim levels - the normal Qashqai ($81,000) and Premium. The $85,500 Premium model gains dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic Xenon headlamps, panoramic glass roof with 6mm-thick laminated privacy glass with a ultraviolet (UV) ray blocking capabilities and sliding armrest.
Standard equipment include a factory-fitted 2-DIN audio system. Nissan's Intelligent Key System that allows the driver to lock or unlock doors and trunk and start the engine without taking the key out of the pocket, and an engine immobilizer.
Safety wise, expect to find dual front airbags, an LED third brake lamp, front fog lamps, the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) system and Brake Assist (BA).
Watch out for our road test of the Nissan Qashqai, coming soon!
