Opel has revived the iconic Manta as a limited edition all-electric special to celebrate the coupe's 50th anniversary.
The new Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD rides on the growing trend of transforming classic cars into 'RestoMods' with modern components and powertrains. The Manta GSe is the first all-electric RestoMod by Opel, and combines the classic style of the iconic Manta with electric powertrain technology.
The original four-cylinder engine has been replaced with an electric motor offering 145bhp and 225Nm of torque. With a 31kWh lithium-ion battery and regenerative braking, the Manta GSe has a range of around 200km.
The Manta GSe features Vauxhall's latest design elements, such as the brand's iconic Vizor-styled front. It incorporates the grille, head lights, and logo into a single element.
The front end also features LED daytime running lights, while the iconic circular rear lights come with a striking three-dimensional LED design.
The yellow paintwork is contrasted by the signature black bonnet, with the wheel arches housing specially designed 17-inch Ronal alloy wheels.
As expected of a modern RestoMod, the interior of the Manta GSe features the latest Vauxhall digital technology. The classic instrument gauge cluster has been replaced with two-driver oriented 10-inch and 12-inch digital displays. The sound system has also been modernised by Marshall.
In addition, surfaces inside the cockpit and on door panels are now matt grey, which matches the model's black and yellow elements. The ceiling of the passenger compartment is lined with fine Alcantara, completing the Manta GSe's stylish ambience.
Both Vauxhall and Opel have promised to offer an electrified variant by 2024.
