On the eve of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and on a livestream broadcasted on its YouTube channel, Peugeot unveiled its all-new E-208 GTi, decked in a bright red paintjob.
This is Peugeot's first all-electric GTi and it is distinguished by its strong stance on the road thanks to a body that is lowered by 30mm, while its front and rear tracks have been widened by 56mm and 27mm respectively. All this, combined with springs and shock absorbers with specific hydraulic stops, 18-inch wheels cloaked in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres with a perforated structure meant to optimise brake cooling, and its rear anti-roll bar, offer an ideal compromise between efficiency in sports mode and comfort in everyday driving.
To enhance its sporty look, a front spoiler has been added to the bottom of the front bumper. The specific aerodynamic diffuser located under the rear bumper, which integrates a new small LED fog light, has been tinted in glossy black for more elegance and discretion.
Its GTi-style refinement is expressed through small touches of red on several elements including its grille, around the Peugeot emblems, in the head lights, on the wheel arches, on the front brake callipers, and under the rear spoiler.
This colour scheme continues on in the interior, with bright red carpets, floor mats, and seat belts all deployed. The front seats, in particular, sport a central red trim extending across the seat and backrest, as well as red mesh on their right sides. Its compact steering wheel also falls prey to this colour scheme, featuring perforated red leather combined with Alcantara and a central emblem that also turns red.
The Peugeot E-208 GTi is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 206kW and 345Nm of torque, allowing the car to complete the century sprint in 5.7 seconds and race on to an electronically-limited top speed of 180km/h. It has a 54kWh battery that can be charged at 100kW via a direct current charger, allowing the battery to be topped up from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
The Peugeot E-208 GTi also features a limited-slip differential integrated into the gear reducer that optimises handling while cornering, providing agility, efficiency, and stability.
In addition, the MyPeugeot smartphone app allows remote access to several features: Thermal pre-conditioning of the cabin, battery charging programming, and embedded navigation programming before hitting the road, among others.
