The Polestar roadster concept has made its Southeast Asian premiere here at the Singapore Motor Show.
Revealed in Los Angeles in March 2022 as the Polestar O₂, the example being exhibited is said to be one of only two units in the world. The design of the concept is said to showcase Polestar's vision for future sports cars.
The concept is additionally said to be the inspiration for the Polestar 6, a series production hard-top convertible that will be based on a bespoke bonded aluminium platform developed by Polestar. This platform will house an 800V electric architecture which is already confirmed for the Polestar 5. Preliminary output figures from this architecture stand at 872bhp and 900Nm of torque, which should allow the Polestar 6 to hit a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds.
The first 500 examples of the Polestar 6 will additionally be built as 'LA Concept' versions, which will sport 21-inch alloy wheels, a unique Sky exterior colour, an animal welfare-traced lather interior, as well as special bodyside graphics.
Back onto the Polestar roadster concept, the car is said to make use of recycled polyester as the sole material used for all the soft components of the interior - a move done to simplify recycling. In the same vein, the different grades of aluminium are used throughout the chassis are also labelled, allowing them to be recycled more effectively and for their properties to be retained.
Polestar plans to launch of Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 in the second-half of 2024 here in Singapore.
