Steinmetz sets record for world's fastest Opel

The vehicle used was an Opel Insignia Sport Tourer OPC tuned by Steinmetz/Klasen, and set a top speed of 287.4km/h, making it officially the fastest road-legal Opel ever. The record was set at a High Performance Event in Nardo, Italy.

Among the modifications made by Steinmetz to the Insignia Sport Tourer OPC include a new grille, front and rear spoilers, 20-inch wheels and lower suspension. Minor touches include chrome trim and new floor mats.

Klasen Motors then adds a bigger turbocharger, retuned intercooler and new exhaust system to improve the performance. The fuel injectors have also been modified and the engine ECU reprogrammed to produce a final output of 400bh and 550Nm of torque.
