Suzuki previews upgraded Alto Works hot hatch

Suzuki has introduced a faster version of the Alto kei car in its home country of Japan, called the Alto Works.
The Alto Works packs an evolution of the Alto Turbo's 660cc three-cylinder engine, with output remaining at 64bhp but torque inscreaed to 100Nm. The extra punch is complemented by a retuned suspension, a re-engineered steering rack and a more responsive throttle for the car that weighs 670kg. Front-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter both come standard.
Visually, the Works stands out thanks to model-specific 15-inch alloy wheels and decals right above the rocker panels. The cabin gets Recaro bucket seats for the front passengers, a boost gauge, red contrast stitching on the seats and around the shift lever, faux carbon fibre trim, as well as steel pedal caps. The touchscreen-based infotainment system has also been removed in a bid to save weight.
