Suzuki Wagon R is top selling vehicle

With sales of 15,480 units, the Wagon R was the bestseller for the fourth straight month, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the Japan Mini Vehicles Association said.

Honda Motor Co.'s Fit subcompact car came in second, followed by Daihatsu Motor Co.'s Tanto minivehicle.

While minivehicles and compact cars continued to be popular, boosted by the growing public awareness of fuel efficiency and eco-friendly cars, Toyota Motor Corp.'s fully remodeled Crown luxury sedan also enjoyed brisk sales. The Crown rose from ninth position in March to sixth in April.

Toyota had eight models in the top 10 list that does not include minivehicles. Mazda Motor Corp.'s Demio ranked 10th.
