The Tarraco combines sportiness and efficiency with FR trim and PHEV version

Seat has expanded the efficiency and desirability of the Tarraco by introducing plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain technology along with the sporty FR trim. The Tarraco PHEV is a demonstration of Seat's electrification strategy, which will include six electric and plug-in hybrid Seat and Cupra models until the beginning of 2021.

The powertrain system, which comprises a 1.4-litre TSI 145bhp petrol engine, 112bhp electric motor and a 13kWh lithium-ion battery pack, gives drivers the adaptability of multiple driving modes. The plug-in hybrid Tarraco allows users to drive in pure-electric mode for more than 50km should they need to, reducing tailpipe emissions to zero, or to combine the petrol engine and electric motor to provide increased performance.

The technology will help the SUV and Seat improve efficiency without the need to make sacrifices in dynamics or comfort.

Total output for the system is 238bhp and 400Nm on torque, giving the Tarraco PHEV a top speed of 217km/h and the ability to reach 100km/h in just 7.4 seconds. CO₂ emissions will be below 50g/km on the official WLTP test cycle.

The new FR trim for the Tarraco will also enhance the large SUVs desirability, and bring new levels of sportiness to the car.

Exterior changes with the FR trim include wider wheel arches, a sporty rear spoiler and FR-specific 19-inch alloy wheels, with an additional option to have machined 20-inch wheels. At the front, the FR grille proudly houses the Seat badge, while at the back, the tail lamps highlight the FR look and the all-body painted exterior emphasises its dynamism.

A new Fura Grey paint colour additionally helps to highlight the changes to the exterior.

On the inside, front occupants now benefit from electric sports bucket seats with memory function for the driver side. The bucket seats feature a combination of the sportiness of a neoprene-look material and the sophistication of craft leather work. In addition, the driver benefits from aluminium pedals and a new sports steering wheel with the FR logo.

The Seat Tarraco FR PHEV will make its world debut at this year's Frankfurt International Motor Show.
