The updated Suzuki Swift has been launched here in Singapore.
The new car gets minor updates that see it continue to offer a sporty exterior. At the front of the new Swift rests a new three-dimensional diamond grille that now features a horizontal chrome accent for a more refined look.
The new Suzuki Swift will be offered here in eight exterior paint colour options, with Burning Red Pearl Metallic and Frame Orange Metallic being offered with an optional contrasting Black Pearl roof.
Frame Orange Metallic meanwhile is only offered with the contrasting black roof and those looking for the Silver Metallic roof only have Rush Yellow Metallic as their sole exterior paint option.
Elsewhere around the car, the car retains its characteristic wrap-around windows, as well as the hidden pillar-mounted door handles. The car also continues to sport a 'floating roof' design, thanks to a black accent on the C-pillar. The 16-inch alloy wheels have also been redesigned.
The most significant change for the new Swift comes under the bonnet. The car is now powered by a 1.2-litre DUALJET engine paired to a compact and lightweight 12V mild-hybrid system. A CVT now stands in place of the former six-speed automatic. Power output is now at 82bhp while peak torque of 107Nm is developed at 2,800rpm. The new engine will bring the Swift to 100km/h from a standstill in 12.2 seconds.
The new mild-hybrid system brings fuel economy up to an official 24km/L, an improvement over the previous car's official figure of 17.5km/L.
The Swift continues to rest on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform, offering enhanced vehicle performance thanks to its low weight and high rigidity, aiding fuel consumption while delivering sharp turn-in and stopping performance.
The car is held by MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear. The setup is said to maintain the Swift's characteristic steering responsiveness while providing a supple and comfortable ride.
In the cabin, the Swift gets a slightly updated D-shaped steering wheel for enhanced sportiness. A 7.0-inch display is also now new, and sports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The new Swift is also packed with safety and driver assistance features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Hill hold assist and a weaving alert amongst others.
