Vauxhall has announced the new Astra Electric, which will be available to order in the U.K. from early 2023 onwards.
Both the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric feature the same, fully electric powertrain. Powered by a 152bhp electric motor producing 270Nm of torque, the Astra Electric achieves a range of 415km from a single charge, and has a top speed of 168km/h.
The Astra Electric will consume energy at a WLTP rated 6.71km/kWh, making it ideal for daily use. Both models are also capable of supporting up to 100kW DC rapid charging, with an 80% charge taking 30 minutes. Drivers can also choose between three driving modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport, to suit their needs.
The battery is also housed in the vehicle's underbody, resulting in no compromise in passenger room or luggage space compared to the regular Astra. The Astra Sports Tourer Electric comes with 516 litres of luggage space with the rear seats up, increasing to 1,553 litres when the rear seats are folded.
The Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric feature Vauxhall's latest interior technologies, driver aids and safety features. The fully digital Pure Panel interior comes with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch central display.
Both vehicles are available with Vauxhall's IntelliLux LED Pixel Light technology. This features 168 individual LED elements, 84 per head light, providing unparalleled visibility at night thanks to seamless adaptation of the light beam pattern to suit the driving conditions and surroundings.
The interior of the Vauxhalls will also come with ergonomic Active Sports seats, which can be had in Alcantara trim.
