  • Driven for the past 2 days, I'm quite surprised by the comfort level of this car. Sound insulation is quite good, better than my previous Harrier.
Was served by Dom Wong. He made my buying experience an extremely happy one.

  • I was looking for a 7-seater car, not my personal choice to be honest. I have owned and driven many cars over the last 20 years, just recently I looked around me and realised it's not about me anymore. Parent aging, kids no longer thrilled about outing. Everyone just want to be able to sleep or rest peacefully with space in a car. Well, MPV would be the ideal choice but I can't……I just can't. I refused to.
SUV it is. There aren't many choices for 7-seater SUV. I have not driven a diesel car so didn't want to try something new. Not a fan of EV….Yet. Until the day I see a powerful charger in every carpark lot, I will buy one. High COE works both ways for car owners, sell high and buy high. With current inflation and bank rates, I need to mange my expectation. Traded in my BMW and welcome Outlander to my family of cars. Been driving it for a while, beginning to like it despite its flaws. Every car has flaws. Slow car is a flaw to many thrill seekers, I am fine because it is an SUV. I look forward to driving and putting people to sleep with it.

  • Pros: Have been driving it for the past 3years. No frills, most affordable SUV that is made in Japan.
Cons: slow 'pick-up' power. Short of the techs that one can get from other makes from the same category of SUV.

» VERDICT

Much more than a traditional mid-cycle refresh that consists of minor aesthetic updates, the Mitsubishi Outlander has been redesigned and re-engineered to stand out in the competitive large SUV segment.

Mitsubishi's new design concept - Dynamic Shield - makes its debut here and it definitely does a big part in making this model look more cohesive and attractive than before.

Other elements that blend the Outlander's masculinity with the urban environment it's intended for include 18-inch alloys, silver roof rails, silver skid plates, black wheel arches and LED combination tail lamps.

On the inside, the Outlander retains its time-tested formula of a comfortable albeit simple cabin but it gains a new wood-like trim, new stitchwork on seats, improved headlining as well as a brand new steering wheel.

Once you get settled, the Outlander's cabin feels more like that of a luxury sedan than an SUV. It accomodates seven pax and there is good headroom and legroom for three Asian adults in the second row, while the third row can be utilised as a backup plan for carpool duty or for the younger ones.

The large SUV boasts improved handling and greatly reduced noise, vibration and harshness, along with increased body and structural rigidity, for a quieter and superbly composed ride. At cruising speeds, the car cocoons like a sleep pod, insulating so well against road noise and tyre roar, one won't even notice the speed.

At the heart of the Outlander is Mitsubishi's 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder MIVEC engine that's paired to an upgraded INVECS-III CVT gearbox. Contrary to what 165bhp and 222Nm of torque may suggest, the new Outlander offers a sprightly drive, with smooth and refined power delivery.

Under the Outlander's updated sheet metal, several engineering improvements contribute to a better overall sense of refinement and makes the SUV a genuine all-rounder and the winner of the large SUV category.
