Electric Compact Crossover of the Year
BYD Atto 2 Electric
The Atto 2 is BYD's entry-level crossover, but it doesn't feel like it. Instead, the Atto 2 delivers a functional cabin with impressive fit and finish, a spacious backseat, and a well-sorted infotainment system. Passengers can look forward to a decently sized 380-litre boot, and a pliant ride from its soft suspension. Feeding its 100kW (134bhp) electric motor is a 51.13kWh Blade Battery that provides a range of 345km.

Collected my BYD Atto 2 about 5 weeks ago, and I must say Im genuinely impressed. This is my second car (I also drive a Mercedes GLB), and as a first-time EV user, the experience has been better than expected. The first thing that stood out is how incredibly quiet the drive is. Its so silent that you can barely tell when the car is on, a completely different experience from a petrol engine. Driving feels smooth and effortless, especially when overtaking. What made the transition even easier is how intuitive the interior is. The layout and functions feel very similar to my GLB, so I didnt need much time to get used to it at all.For an economically priced EV, it delivers great value. Im already seeing savings on petrol, and it feels good knowing Im contributing in a small way towards going green.I also really enjoy taking it on longer drives, its comfortable, easy to handle, and the cabin is surprisingly spacious.Overall, Im very happy with this purchase. Kudos to BYD for producing such a practical and well-designed EV. Definitely a great entry point for anyone considering switching to electric.

Glad to be the first reviewer of Atto2! Gotten my BYD Atto 2 almost 3 months after signing it, due to the fact that COE increases tremendously in between, bid at 107k, got it at 122k lol. Back to the car, was driving second hand continental cars (BMW 520d, Volvo V40, Jaguar XF) for the past 6 years, and was enticed by the wave of EV technology hitting the coast of SG. After 3 months reading multiple reviews on BYD cars on Sgcarmart and other websites, I decided to convert from ICE, and it was a wondrous experience. With the backing of 10 years warranty, and zero needs to visit petrol stations (I don
Verdict
Topping the electric compact crossover category is no easy task, especially if you're a newcomer. The fact that you're an entry-level model also makes it seem as if there's not much to expect.

The BYD Atto 2, however, has surprised and impressed many. The neat exterior styling extends to the cockpit, which is functional and well-built. Physical buttons enhance overall user-friendliness, and the infotainment is intuitive, too. Plus, the standard ambient lighting offers a dizzying array of colours for you to liven up the cabin.

The surprisingly roomy backseat is another surprise. You'd think that designers would be constrained by the relatively short 2,620mm wheelbase, but the space has been maximised, with the flat floor further enhancing passenger comfort.

The Atto 2 scores high on practicality as well. Again, despite its modest dimensions, boot capacity comes in at 380 litres. With the rear backrests folded, this grows to 1,320 litres, making it a viable load-hauler.

Whether it's passengers or cargo or both, the Atto 2 delivers perky performance thanks to its motor that puts out 100kW and 290Nm of torque. It's the latter figure that makes the car feel especially powerful off-the-line, enabling it to zip around town in silence and with ease. With its easy-going character, versatile and well-made interior, along with a smooth ride, the Atto 2 truly deserves this accolade.
