Electric Coupe-SUV of the Year
BYD Sealion 7 Electric
Going by their numbers on the road, the Sealion 7 is another hit for BYD. It has a sporty, coupe-like roofline with a sloping tailgate, and functional interior. The cockpit features a rotating screen and physical controls that make it user-friendly for drivers new to the brand. The Sealion 7 lineup has two powerful Cat B models (Premium and Performance), along with a recently introduced Cat A variant (Dynamic).

Best car I have driven, even better than Panamera. The over the air updates are a plus to owners, you get almost monthly updates of new safety features.

Great car but can wait as BYD is chasing global sales and dropping price every 2weeks. Expect it to drop further.

Ignore all the exterior styling/Interior Design comments (even my ratings), go see of yourself, cars are very subjective personal things. My 2 cents is this car, is giving Audi A6 and above quality, at Camry prices (if equalise EV rebates), so I went for it. I would say, go and test drive the Zeekr 7X, Xpeng G6 and maybe coming Leapmotor C10 and decide for yourself. I preferred BYD's more old school more button designs compared to the rest, it was a big factor in my decision. Screw the Tesla minimalist bs (manufacturer excuse to save money)

Taken delivery of my car and switched from Mercedes C200 to BYD Sealion 7. Its interior is well thought out with all necessary physical buttons. It feels more luxurious than C200.The suspension set up feels very much like Land Rover Velar, with a little dip when you emergency brake, so feels like you are driving a boat. Vibration is well filtered and are far better than C200 rough drive, which is set for sportier driving. But its not my cup of tea.Power delivery is smooth and driving is less tiring as you hardly need to push or nurse the car. The car will look after you.Power consumption is no issue within Singapore as battery can last about 6 days for daily island driving.Pricing is so competitive as you get a Porsche Panamera 3.0 PDK performance but 2/5 of the price. I think the car itself will sale well as long as price stays below $300k.
Verdict
In many ways, the BYD Sealion 7 is the car that today's EV buyers want. It's an SUV, but rather than being boxy, it has a coupe-like roofline. The Sealion 7 also looks distinct, which sets it apart from other similar-looking models.

BYD isn't a premium brand, but the interior will make you assume otherwise. It's well put-together, with plenty of soft-touch materials that add to the refined atmosphere. The standard kit includes a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 15.6-inch intelligent rotating infotainment display, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, and a panoramic glass roof.

Thanks to the 2,930mm wheelbase and flat rear floor, there's plenty of space for backseat passengers to stretch out. Plus, with a 520-litre boot and a 58-litre frunk, there's lots of room for your shopping as well.

Further enhancing its appeal is the fact that the Sealion 7 is offered in three variants. The range begins with the Cat A-friendly Dynamic, with 100kW (134bhp) and a range of 405km. It's followed by the mid-tier Premium, with 230kW (308bhp) and 380Nm of torque, plus a 480km driving range.

If you seek even more power, there's the top spec Performance variant. In this guise, the Sealion 7 boasts a stout 390kW (523bhp) and a mountain-flattening 690Nm of torque. With such figures, the Sealion 7 hits 100km/h in a stunning 4.5 seconds. Whichever variant you choose, you can be sure that the experience will be a satisfying one.
