The shop was open by 8.45 and everyone including Mr. Yap were around by 9 am which was their scheduled opening time. The problem with my Air Conditioning was identified very quickly. They were also able to spray my grill within the same day. Will highly recommend this workshop :)

I had just changed my Toyota vios aircon compressor with 1st auto n some minor servicing. Very professionally done with constructive suggestions and necessary recommendations. Very friendly n willing to assist with no question ask. The crew are all very friendly n equipped with good technical knowledge. Mr.Yap oversee all the process of repairing n also the last person to conduct quality checks before me myself test the car.

Sincere and dependable boss and crew team. They have good technical knowhow and only reccomend parts that need to be change so as to give you trouble-free ownership of car.My engine temperature indicator lit up and with mr. Yap over the phone advice,i was able to drive the car in for checkup and servicing.Mr Yap was spot on identifying the leaked radiator.Mr Yap was resourceful enough to source for an equivalent aftermarket radiator. His other reccommended options had led to a much responsive and nimble car which i am driving . Give this humble workshop a try as its rewards are plenty.Certainly a choice workshop which i will be visiting regularly. Nissan Cefiro Sing

The service was fantastic. Diagnose my Vw Jetta 1.4TSI Air Condition problem within minutes. The Air condition was repaired within 1.5 hrs. Their Air-condition experience was up to expectation The boss and the staffs were friendly and helpful. Mr Yap took an extra mile to Collect some spare parts as the delivery man could not make it on time. I will definitely will come back for the next service. Keep up the good work Maurice

I sent my toyota altis this morning for aircon-repair. As I had called Mr Yap yesterday, I was not prepared that he will remember me coming down today to do the repair. I was the first car to arrive and straightaway, Mr Yap asked me if I am here for repair. Oh mine..he does remember my call yesterday. I told him about my aircon problem and straightaway, Mr Yap and one of his colleagues attended to my problem. Can you just imagine the mechanic starts around 9.15am and end around 10.30am for the whole process of changing my aircon cooling coil? WOW..that was a fantastic job indeed. I asked a few workshop before and they would request me to leave my car there for 1 whole day manz!! And the way I see the mechanic take out the deskboard and etc...super fast and very experience. I told Mr Yap I still got other problems with my car and definitely I will be back to see him again. Dont worry, his price is really reasonable. He does not anyhow charge for his services as well as there is really no hidden cost at all. Unlike others workshop. Good work, Mr Yap. Advices : Go early if possible cos by the time my car had finished at the workshop, there are long Q waiting for Mr Yap manz...

Good services from Mr Yap and his workers  Posted on 22-Apr-2012

I am in my late 50’s and having owned different made of car for 40 years now, I could tell even with the slightest abnormality with my car. I first knew Mr Yap who is one of the partners and overall in-charge of 1st Auto Pte Ltd workshop operation about 3 years back when he was working as a supervisor in a motor workshop owned by one of my friends. Back then, I needed to have my car serviced and brought it to my friend’s workshop. My friend introduced me to his new supervisor who happened to be Mr Yap and told Mr Yap to personally oversee the servicing of my car. The reasons that I prefer to have my car serviced or/and repaired in my friends workshop after the expiry of the agent’s warranty are that I would change the normal spark plugs, air filter, engine oil, crank pulley, suspension and brake and suspension systems to performance ones. In addition, I also install strut bar to the engine bay, front and rear undercarriage strut braces to strength the chassis to minimize the car body rolls and over-steering, the latter especially effective when taking bends along the highways. I am sure that many car enthusiasts owners are like me too. Most often when one brings their car to the workshop for service, the workshop would do the usual servicing such as replacing of engine oil, check or replace the drop-in air filter, replace oil filter and spark plugs if normal plugs are used. But I found Mr Yap to be different in that he did beyond that and meticulous in what he does. He checked almost every component and advised me on the condition on the wear and tear parts and my friend (the workshop owner) did not charge a cent more for such extra services that Mr Yap rendered. I found Mr Yap to be a very friendly, cheerful person and very knowledgeable on car problems and diagnosis although I did not talk much with him then. 2 years back, I brought my car to another friend’s workshop to have my car serviced and he introduced me to his supervisor and the boss told him to attend to my car. The supervisor who greeted me, mentioned to me that he remembers me as I have brought my car to another of my friend’s workshop earlier for service where he worked and had personally attended to my car. Only then did I recall that he is the supervisor Mr Yap. Well, Mr Yap again provided excellent services to my car and even advised what parts can still be used and the appropriate engine oil as I am very particular on the latter and the spark plugs About 9 months back, Mr Yap sent me a sms to my mobile informing me he has left my friend’s workshop and has jointly set up his own workshop with several partners and hope that I would give him an opportunity to attend to my car be it service or repairs. As I already have many friends with established workshops, I did not patronize Mr Yap and still brought my car to friends for servicing, tune-up of the engine or repairs. About one-an-a half weeks back, I sensed something abnormal with my car engine (CVT transmission) as the car tends to jerk whenever I stepped on the accelerator and the rpm was rather erratic when put on “Drive” and “Reverse” mode and fuel consumption was slightly high. I brought my car to 2 of my friends and told them the problems that I have with my car as I believe in having 2 motor experts opinions. They used the OBD scanners, checked the engine and even test drove my car but found nothing wrong. One of my friends’ supervisors told me that the problem could be due to the engine oil and that the problem would be solved after replacing it. I found the supervisor’s suggestion rather ridiculous as I have done the last servicing in this workshop using high performance engine oil that I have only clocked 5,000km. I then asked my friend (the supervisor’s boss) for his view on the engine oil and upon checking, confirmed that the oil is still in good condition. On 14 April 2012 (Saturday) afternoon at about 2.30pm while driving along PIE from the airport, I suddenly realized that the car became very sluggish when I stepped on the accelerator. When I put on “D’ and “R” mode, the idling dropped to 500rpm. To prevent the engine from “dying” at such mode, I have to step on the accelerator all the time. I contacted one of my workshop friends and told of him problem that I encountered. I asked him whether I could drive my car to him to diagnose the problem but he told me that he has no time and suggested that I call him again on Tuesday the following week if I could wait. I felt pissed off by his reply as I have known him for almost 20 years. I then contacted another mechanic friend and mentioned to him the problem and whether I could bring my car to his workshop immediately. He told that I could but would not be able to repair my car as his workshop closed at 5pm. As I was in a desperate situation and while browsing through the contacts in my mobile, saw Mr Yap’s number. I called Mr Yap and told him of the problem and what time his workshop be closed since it is Saturday. He told me that although they officially close at 6pm but however, he and his mechanics would normally stay back until he has completed the repair of customers’ cars. He suggested that I bring my car to his workshop immediately and I asked him whether he could have my car repaired by the same evening. He assured me that he would and drove my car while still “jerking” to his workshop immediately. It was already 3pm when I arrived at his workshop and although his workshops were full of cars and customers waiting for their cars to be done up, he and his mechanics immediately attended to my car and troubleshoot the problems while I watched what they were doing. At about 4pm, Mr Yap completed the whole trouble-shooting and eventually diagnosed the problems to the misfiring issues as only 3 out of the 4 cylinders are working and that the 2 ignition coils are damaged, spark cables head burnt off. One of the spark plugs was damaged as a result of the 2 problems. He further told me which parts have to be replaced and with the original new parts (except sparks plugs which he has). I was rather concerned that he might not be able to obtain the parts as the shops carrying the parts have already closed for the day (Saturday being half day work). Mr Yap told me not to worry as he has the contacts to obtain the original parts and would have my car repaired and completed before the end of the day. While in his air-con reception office cum customers waiting areas where there is a TV for customers to watch shows, the lady staff kept me comfortable by serving me coffee and refreshments free-of-charge. I asked the lady staff what time they knock off on Saturday and they told me at 6pm or sometime later if there are still customers to be attended to. I was rather surprised with the pleasant attitude of the lady staff as they seemed to be enjoying their work although most of us would rather work up to 1pm on Saturday or better still no work on Saturday. The lady staff told me that the bosses philosophy is to make customers as comfortable as possible while waiting for their cars to be done up and customers are provided with unlimited free flow of refreshments. I have to say that this is the only motor workshop that I come across where customers are very well taken care off. Even the car authorized agents don’t provide such services. As the time was ticking away and the parts for my car not arrived yet, I kept enquiring with Mr Yap was very calm kept assuring me that he would have my car done up. When the parts eventually arrived at about 5pm, Mr Yap personally worked on my car with his mechanics. I was watching them replacing the parts and Mr Yap explained to me in details on the problems and how the problems surfaced. At about 6.30pm, Mr Yap and his team of workers completed the repairs to my car and it was a big relief. Although the costs of the replacement parts were quite a lot, but his labour cost charges were also very reasonable. Despite having to pay his workers for the overtime, he did not charge me extra. Dear friends, pardon me for posting such a lengthy write-up on Mr Yap good service render as I felt that he has saved my day when my other mechanic friends whom I knew for my years could not. I am one that write very comprehensively and not in brief. I will not hesitate to post articles in the motoring forums as I feel that this is the only means of communications amongst car owners and sharing of information be it good or bad encounters with workshops or other motor services providers. To Mr Yap, his partners and workers, thanks for the good job and services rendered to me and I believe that many car owners who have used your services would testify to what I have mentioned. Please keep up with your good services and enhance further whereever possible and I will continue to bring my cars to you whenever the needs arise. Cheers.

When my BMW 1-series encountered hiccups, I called PML for an appointment. As I could only make it on weekends for checks, PML insisted I leave the car over the weekends and they will rectify the fault on following Monday. I rejected as I need my car. I sought for alternatives and chanced upon 1st Auto's great review here. I visited them and without a doubt, the best service I've ever experienced. Friendly staff, professional and knowledgeable! Mr. Yap rectified the fault and explained it clearly. When I informed him of a concern, he explained that it is a waste of money to add coolant and thus, told me not to do it. That clearly dictate that they are not hungry for your money. They do only what is necessary. Furthermore, after the repair, when I reached home, I checked the engine again and realised one screw deteriorated and came loose. I called them again and without hesitation, they drove down to my residence and replaced it without charge! They are willing to go that extra mile to ensure you are satisfied! Enough said, fantastic service!

Found out about this workshop through sgcarmart. have gd reviews. So last 4 days when I had problems with my car - cannot start the engine, the first thing on my mind is 1st Auto. They provide towing service. The mechanics there are very professional. They explained to me the possible cause of the problem and at th same time did a full check and servicing. Whatever problems they encounter they will inform me first and let me know the possible prices of changing certain items. Very professionally done. Before i left with my car, they even assist to vacuum and did some interior cleaning for me. even just before i move off, the head mechanic notice that my revearsing light had blown off, immediately he get his guys to change it for me for free. Fantastic service...A must try place for your car servicing.

Having a strange whine in my fd4, since last thursday whom i been to many workshop to diagnose. But no one seems to be able to properly pinpoint. Went to 1st auto yesterday, sunday and was attended by Mr Yap, he told me that it could be a compressor bearing, upon swopping the bearing, the whine is still there. He then recommended belt tensioner whihc i promptly replace today, but still thre whine is still there. He then took out the aircon compressor and swapped it with a refurb unit. It works, so my honda is now a happy car. Good experience ws, never been so impressed..
